So here we are another evening another day of terrible news coming out of Washington. Our banks got one trillion in funds but it was not enough. The number of unemployed Americans is at record highs as more people continue to receive benefits. Prospects of a rebound are dimming and oil prices are going through the roof on rampant speculation of better days to come. Customers are tough to come by in this market and it is even tougher to get a customer that is actively buying.
We have opened the door to new business with the Slope Compu-Messenger Bag which is manufactured by Leeds out of PA. Keeping true to its name the Slope will hold a 15" laptop in the padded sleeve. We found in our tests that the sleeve was pretty easy to use and in most cases would stretch to fit a 15.4" laptop but we would not recommend marketing it as such. What we gave the bag high marks for was the rear storage in an additional compartment that allows you to keep other items away from the computer. What we do not like about competitive bags is the all-for-one storage which can result in things getting smashed in the laptop bay. We also give high marks to the velcro closures which are much easier to use than straps. The detachable shoulder strap is another feature not all that common in mid priced bags. Most are permanent but there are many times when customers will want them gone and it is nice to have that option.
Up next is the ear-bud port which allows you to string your headphones through the front of the bag. The color accents on the front also add a nice touch and if combined with a snazzy looking white or silver logo add to the overall appeal. The high strength poly that the bag is made from will resist tears and punctures from all but the sharpest of objects.
We rate the Slope a 9 out of 10. The only area of improvement would be true 15.4 or 17" capacity. Really manufacturers need to realize this is the way all laptops are going in time and provide expandable cases. The lack of color options is a bit of a bummer but keep in mind most customers go with the traditional black or navy colors.
